"The Hamlet" in Lonsdale Street, Braddon is a collection of food trucks which are guaranteed to waken up your nostrils with their delicious smells.

Inside the Hamlet there are also markets, pop up stores and local creative folk selling their imaginative wares. They have all come together in a large shop space (which used to be an old car yard) as a home for new businesses and food trucks to show off their talents all in the one place. Due to the space being temporary, new stores and food trucks can literally "pop up" overnight.

The Hamlet opened in November 2014 and will only be open for a few years in its current form. It is an ever-changing little hamlet to explore, whilst maintaining some of the favourites that people come back for time and time again.

This is the current list of food caravans, however these will change over time, so keep an eye on The Hamlet's Facebook for updated info. Currently their Facebook page says they are open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch/dinner and Sundays for lunch…however this seems to have changed to Tuesdays to Sundays for most businesses and others have extended on these times.

Some are also open earlier for breakfast and coffees...

One of these is "Chasing Mr Morris", a popular food truck for coffees and delicious sugary treats to wake you up in the morning. It is run by the people at Nookie Expresso Bar in the CBD. The friendly gentleman behind the counter is a character in himself, making it a fun way to start the day.
We tried their donuts, however I will have to come back for a Nam Nam - a Vietnamese iced coffee consisting of a long black and condensed milk over ice ($5).

If you love to start your day with the sweet stuff, Aprils Caravan sells waffles and milkshakes - a definite hit with the kids for an all-day breakfast. They also make a delicious Apple Pie Milkshake -perfect for dessert.

The Hamlet is a family friendly area, with Broddogs being a favourite with the kids and adults alike. You can't miss their iconic red caravan and the long line to get one (which moves fast), so you know you are onto a good thing.

The Spit Shack is another favourite, with their long rolls jam packed with roasted pork, lamb or beef straight from the spit. The smell wafts into the street and your stomach instantly rumbles.
If you love your Spit Shack, there is also another Spit Shack at Pialligo , near the airport.

Mr Papas next door sells tasty Peruvian street food, another popular addition to The Hamlet.

Now if you are up for seconds, The Brathaus food caravan specializes in producing premium Bratwurst from all around the world and next door, Fillos Souvlaki has everyone lined up for their Greek street food..

10" Custom Pizzeria is a real shopfront at The Hamlet. They make custom made pizzas where you choose your own toppings and watch it get made in front of you before it gets the wood fired treatment - in and out in just 3 minutes!

If you are after some traditional Indian, there is Indian Streetfood at Binneys and Pie Day is a popular food van with pies made from quality local produce.

After you have filled up your stomach from a variety of countries from around the world, head inside The Hamlet for stylish pop up shops selling jewellery, art, fashion and homewares from local designers.

Whilst inside, why not finish your Hamlet experience with dessert from Little Dreams. This sweet stall is from the creative people behind Dream Cuisine Patisserie in Fyshwick.

If you come in the evening the cool vibe is enhanced by live music to enjoy while you experience the food truck cultural experience.

With The Hamlet running for just a few years, we should be enjoying this unique space while we can. With so much talent, energy and culture in one place, it will be easy to do.
