The 2018 tour of this long-awaited and stunning documentary investigating the human microbiome is hosted by the renowned women's health specialists, The Wellness Women!

This is a documentary about the future of medicine and is well worth going to see as it is fascinating, even though the subject is still a slightly "taboo" one!

The word "microbiome" simply means the microorganisms in a particular environment and this can be in the body or a part of the body. In this case, of course, it refers to the stomach.

The Gut Movie follows the journey of journalist and researcher, Kale Brock as, in an effort to discover whether the "optimal microbiome" does indeed exist, he travels from Australia to Namibia to live with The San - an aboriginal people of Southern Africa commonly called Bushmen, and an ancient hunter-gatherer people living traditionally from the land.

During this journey, Brock monitors his own microbiome and discovers how it changes whilst he is living in the new surroundings, and he takes microbiome samples from The San to gauge the significant differences in microbiota present across cultures.

The movie also has expert commentary by leading gastroenterologist, Professor Thomas Borody; a molecular geneticist, Dr Margie Smith; immunology researcher and expert, Professor Mimi Tang; and naturopath and chiropractor, Dr Damian Kristof.

The Gut Movie provides a knowledgeable yet entertaining look at the "explosive" research of the gut and its impact on human health.

This event will be followed by a Q&A with Dr Andrea Huddleston, who is a Women's Health Expert and Holistic Chiropractor, and Dr Ashleigh Bond, who is an Integrative Chiropractor and Organic Lifestyle Expert. This Q&A session will last for about 20 minutes however, you can leave and not attend this if you wish.

Kale says "The future of medicine may lie somewhere completely unexpected, somewhere only few have dared to look so far, somewhere so far-fetched and bizarre that only now in the modern world are we beginning to investigate it... poop. Yes, in our poop."

Rating for this movie is (M) which is for mature audiences. It contains some nudity of native tribesman in a natural setting.

The Gut Movie (Perth) 2018 Official Tour - Fourth Screening, will be on 21st May, 2018 and is on from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm at the Luna Leederville, 155 Oxford Street.
