Eat dessert first, walk it off later

On a recent day trip to the quaint country town of Bowral in the Southern Highlands, we came across The Gumnut Patisserie; a quintessential French themed patisserie in the heart of this beautiful village.

If you love fresh baked pastries, breads and dessert then the Gumnut patisserie is a must stop when visiting this popular town.

We were drawn there by the crowd lining up outside their doors as well as the gorgeous window display filled with delicious delicacies. It wasn't long before we decided to join the long queue of eagerly awaiting customers.

The Gumnut Patisserie sports a simple, tiny interior filled with fresh baked traditional artisan breads, brioche, croissants and pies to name a few. They also serve barista coffee to go with your baked goodies.

We sampled the fresh sourdough, brioche and apricot danish and everything tasted as exquisite as it looked. There are also a few alfresco tables where you can sit and enjoy your mouthwatering treats and coffee.

We couldn't help walking away with a few more bags of goodies to take home and enjoy. After all, as is written on their shopfront "Life's short, eat dessert."!

If you're feeling guilty after eating so many delicious calories, don't worry there is plenty of walking and exploring to be done around this lovely town.

Bowral is located only one and a half hours drive from Sydney and it has everything a historic country town has to offer. From historic buildings, museums and pretty gardens to chic boutiques and cafes. It's easy to see why this town has fast become so popular with visitors. Bowral is the perfect destination for a day trip or weekend away.
