Spring into a wonderland of decadence
If you've been to The Grounds of Alexandria on many an occasion as I have, then you'll be well aware of the spectacular event installations that their design team come up within this revitalised area that was once a pie factory. Paired with limited specials in food and beverages, they're always a scene of magical beauty that has cameras clicking madly.

This latest laneway installation, the Garden of Sweets, is bound to be a success with its Willa Wonka theme bringing the wild, the colourful and the neon together in giant florals, mushrooms, candy canes and lollipops.

The devilish, the fizzy, the popping and punchy sweet edible delights include

The Candy Man Cake in The Cafe a devil's chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and mascarpone in the centre, garnished with freckles and topped with Garden of Sweets treats
The Shed Sunrise in The Potting Shed a tequila sunrise with a twist, this concoction comes with a punchy combination of Altos Blanco tequila, Blue Curacao, Triple Sec and mango puree topped with pop rocks
The Shroom Garden growing in The Potting Shed a colourful garden of chocolate parfait mushrooms with Rocky Road bits, popping candy and fresh berries
The Pine Lime Fizz-A-Licious Soda in The Garden a zesty pineapple and lime soda with ice cream, topped with purple pineapple whipped cream, sprinkles and candy

Wow, my taste buds are salivating and the above are just some of the delights being served up during the 8-week long sweet garden theme that you can explore for free from 7am daily until late in the evening.

Coming to life at night is the dessert market, from 6pm-10pm. Two nights have currently been announced, 15 & 16 August, although it looks as though more will be announced soon. Entry is $10 per person (kids under 10 are free) and includes live entertainment. You'll also be privy to an exclusive variety of delicious food carts that have to be seen to be believed. Here's a taste of what you can look forward to

Coloured waffle cones with a variety of ice cream flavours and toppings
The Blueberry Crepe Station with blue crepes and blueberry everything
Fresh donuts made in The Grounds Bakery with decadent fillings and coatings to choose from
Fizzy drinks with sherbet bombs
A Hot Chocolate Fondue Station with fresh fruit, brownie cubes and choc chip cookies, to name but a few
A Lolly Cart with all the sweet things you could dream of, from fudge to meringues, sour lollies, giant gobstoppers and so much more sugary heaven

If sweets aren't your thing, don't despair as there will be savoury options available too.

The market is open to all ages but get in quick as tickets are limited.

Getting there is easy with buses frequenting the area and, if you're driving, parking can be found both onsite (address below) and in surrounding streets.

So spring into this wonderland of decadence and treat yourself before it's all gone. You dessert it!
