I'm a grandmother, a retired teacher, an avid reader who loves historical re-enactment, English Country Dance, writing and Op Shopping. My business is designed to help children experience history through school incursions.

This coffee shop does a remarkable job of being pleasant even though its position would seem to make any ambiance impossible. Set around the escalators going down to Spotlight and Home Hardware, it spreads out over the lobby with clusters of tables here and there.

The counter is tucked away behind the escalators.

It's great place to have a rest if you've been buying up downstairs or been into Rug a Million getting confused (so many rugs). Do take a look in the Art Shop too. It's just beautiful.

The coffee is good, the food serves generous. In fact I found the wraps way too large. Half the size would have been plenty.

Very generous sized wraps.

You can also sit outside, which may suit smokers but I didn't think a view of the car park was particularly tempting.

Like and comment for a cheaper coffee.

If you take photos or make a comment and like The Ground Bean on Facebook, you can get your next coffee half price. That could be a great deal if you live locally. I'm not sure if there's a limit to how many times you can do this though. You'll have to go in and find out.

Had a club sandwich at 12.15 today, the worst food I have ever eaten. The chicken, chips and toast was so overcooked that it was inedible, the service was poor, no wonder the business is for sale. They will have NO business if he continues to employ the staff they had on today. The previous owner had such high standards, it is a shame to see a business going down the gurgler. Will never eat there again.

New owners took over just a few days ago - now they have lovely organic fair trade coffee, fresh sandwiches & gluten & dairy free option treats too.

Just to let you know there are now new owners who care about their customers. The new owners will be transforming the space by putting in some lounge seating soon & there's now a kids area for them to read little golden books while mum or dad has an organic coffee. I hope to read new reviews soon :)
