The Greatest Auto Race on Earth Documentary 'The Greatest Auto Race on Earth' is a documentary style film about six teams taking on the challenge to drive from New York to Paris in 1908. The film has been created through a collection of original photos from the race, interviews with historians and re-enactments with recreated vehicles.
The planned Great Auto Race of 2008 was cancelled as the approval and permits to travel through China were recalled. A World Auto Race was eventually launched in Times Square, New York on April 14, 2011. Competitors set out to retrace the route taken in 1908 from New York to Paris. Ultimately, four of the starting vehicles, the oldest being a 1929 Ford Model A, a 1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe, the 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, and a 2007 Chevrolet multi-fueled Corvette, reached the Eiffel Tower in Paris on July 21, 2011. Participating in the 2011 race was Jeff Mahl, the great-grandson of George Schuster, the winning driver of the 1908 New York to Paris Race. (Source Wikipedia)
Crowdfunding Along with the movie night there is also a crowdfunding campaign for those who wish to contribute a little more. The aim is to raise $2000 to help cover the costs of entering the 10th round of the World Rally Championship.
