The Great Fete is a great day out for all
So what is so great about the Great Fete at the Samuel Gilbert Public School?

It would have to be, how so much entertainment, music, dance, art, craft, games, market stalls, trash and treasure, rides and food will be going on during the six hours on Sunday the 16th of August 2015 at the Great Fete.

There is so much going on, I don't know how you will fit it all in. But I am sure that anyone who goes along to this Great Fete will have so much fun doing it.

Just going through the list of what will be going on has blown me away. This Great Fete would have to be one of those events that you should put into your diary to attend. You never know, you may find that something you have been looking for at the market stalls and trash and treasure.

Everyone's welcome at North West Sydney's biggest annual fete. This exciting day out has attracted over 6,000 visitors a year, and is free to enter. It's Samuel Gilbert Public School's major fundraiser, with something to appeal to everyone.

This year's highlights include:

15 great rides

Rides are a huge drawcard at The Great Fete, with hundreds of families flocking to 15 rides and jumping castles on the school's scenic oval. The Fete is known for having the best carnival rides in the district and this year is no different!

Rides will operate from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm.

International Food Court

Relax in shaded seating as The Great Fete's international food court and Aussie BBQ fire into action, serving up fresh, hot cuisine for hundreds of fete-goers.

The popular International Food Court serves up tasty, authentic cuisine from around the world including Spanish, Italian, Korean, Indian and Turkish dishes.

Grab some chips, nuggets and other snacks from Kidz Canteen or a freshly brewed coffee or Devonshire Tea from our popular Cafe.

Enjoy a sweet treat from milkshake, cupcake and sweets stalls, and fete favourites like fairy floss, slushies and ice-cream. Have a go on the chocolate wheel or enter the raffle for gourmet hampers. Maybe you could take home a cake from the fete's huge and popular cake stall.

Quality Market Stalls & Trash and Treasure

Positioned in the School courtyards and on the oval, the Market Stalls provide colour, variety and interest to your shopping, with some great bargains, wonderful gift ideas and unique finds.

Pick yourself up a bargain! Beautifully organised into toys, books, household goods and other categories, the trash n treasure 'stall' is a Fete favourite. Every year you can find high quality collector's items, everyday useful goods, and bargain buys.

The best fetes are interactive, and The Great Fete always has plenty of games and craft activities to entertain the crowds. This year the action will kick off with a soccer shoot-out.

Games like Hoopla offer great prizes. Hands-on activities like Decorate Your Own Cupcake produce enchanting creations. Also popular is the beauty parlour, temp tattoos and face painting.

Great prizes to be won

There's a huge range of prizes to be won at The Great Fete in games like the chocolate wheel, hoopla, lucky dip, etc some of the best and biggest prizes (which in the past have included computers, cameras, trips away, sporting memorabilia) are offered as part of the Giant Raffle and Silent Auction

No school fete would be complete without music, dance and entertainment that showcases the talents of students and community groups and gives fete goers a well earned rest as they enjoy the display. This year you can expect to see artwork, dance, gymnastics, school bands and a vocal ensemble group.

So whether you have someone going to the school, a local or a visitor to the area, I would suggest that you get yourself over to the Great Fete at the Samuel Gilbert Public School and have yourself a great day out.

While you are at it, you should check out a great clip on a previous year of The Great Fete. All you need to do is go to the homepage of the Great Fete and scrolled down to the bottom of the page and click on the video.

Also, you may like to check out what happened at last year's Great Fete and see whether you were one of the attendees. Not even morning rain could dampen the spirit of fete goers who turned out to enjoy rides, stalls, entertainment and games. The day ended in a burst of afternoon sunshine.
