SA Premiere of the iconic racy 60s comedy

If you love a great comedy with some extra sizzle, then don't miss The Graduate!

Matt Byrne Media will present the SA Premiere of the iconic racy 60s comedy at Holden Street Theatres from October 10 to 27.

The film launched Dustin Hoffman as a Hollywood star opposite the superb Anne Bancroft, and Simon And Garfunkel's accompanying hit song, Mrs. Robinson, defined a disillusioned generation.

Terry Johnson's stage adaptation of The Graduate, based on the novel and the iconic 1967 film, is a bitterly hilarious dark comedy, full of rapid-fire dialogue between fascinating and horrifying characters.

Producer/Director Matt Byrne said The Graduate was "as powerful and sexy as the day it first slipped between the sheets."

"It explores family dysfunction, parental expectations, crumbling marriages, and the naive, yet disillusioned, dichotomy of youth, against the shiny backdrop of affluent Southern California in the 1960s," Byrne said.

"Naive Benjamin Braddock is fresh out of University without a future in sight, when he is seduced by the alcoholic, unhappily married and sexually short-changed Mrs. Robinson.

"The script hasn't aged a day. It is poignant, sharp, witty and incredibly biting as Mrs. Robinson manipulates sex from Benjamin.

"She has only one rule: don't date my daughter. But Benjamin quickly decides that is exactly what he will do!"

The show stars Niki Martin as the original "cougar" Mrs. Robinson, opposite Nathan Quadrio as Benjamin. Hannah Tulip plays Elaine Robinson, Matt Byrne plays Mr. Robinson, Timothy Cousins plays Mr. Braddock and Heather Riley plays Mrs. Braddock.

The show will also feature Adam D'Apice as the Psychiatrist, the Hotel Clerk and The Priest, and Kristen Tommasini as the burlesque dancer.

The Graduate runs at the Holden Street Theatres at 34 Holden Street, Hindmarsh from October 10 ($20 Preview) 11-13, 17-20 & 24-27 at 8 p.m. & October 20 & 27 at 2 p.m.
