Strolling through the newly renovated Lidcombe shopping center, I noticed The Gozleme Co and it's variety of different gozlemes on offer including a breakfast gozleme. I didn't need much persuasion to sit down and order a gozleme or two and so I did.
Gozleme is a Turkish flatbread that has pockets of fillings sealed inside. Spinach, minced beef and cheese are the most popular fillings and most commonly available. Gozleme has gained popularity all over the world and has achieved the Turkish fast food status as it is easy to prepare and liked by all.
The Gozleme Co has improvised on the traditional gozleme fillings and gone for the more gourmet offering. There are plenty of vegetarian options too. If you are just feeling peckish try the Zaatar and cheese, or the Veggie fix in case you want something more substantial. Other gourmet options include the peri-peri chicken and tenderized beef. They also serve a breakfast gozleme all day long, that is stuffed with a spicy cured beef sausage called the sucuk.
If the savoury gozleme isn't your kind of gozleme then try their nutella gozleme or the banana and honey variety. All the gozlemes are served on cheese boards and neatly cut into 8 -10 pieces. I must say, the portion sizes are quite substantial and very filling too.
The gozlemes are priced reasonably starting at $6 for the zaatar and cheese and $10 for the gourmet gozlemes. The Gozeleme Co has outlets in around 8 places around Sydney including the Westfield shopping centres at Burwood, Parramatta and Miranda among others.
With the twist on the stuffings and good service and presentation, it's sure to be a popular choice among shoppers.
