The Golden Pig Cooking and Wine School will guide you and give you all of the above. There are a host of delectable cooking classes as well as wine and beer education classes. You will come out a connoisseur in your own right. If you are like me, you will learn how to peel garlic the right way which thrills to no end.

Upon entering the Golden Pig you make your way past the reception area and into the lounging area where you meet Katrina and Mark who welcome you in and give you this great space to chat with the others before you start the class.

Relaxing before you start!

[ADVERT]The duo, originally from Sydney are well versed to teach and enable us in the kitchen. Katrina helped Mark run restaurants in Sydney while at the same time traveling to the Adelaide hills to teach. They moved up here in 2000 living at the Sunshine Coast with their family. Mark traded in his chef's hat for Building Design and gives us the amazing space you will see upon entering the cooking school. There is an all-encompassing article about them in the July issue of Map magazine.

With high ceilings, large windows, a scaffolded wall of plants and a barbeque area, the Gold Pig is a vibrant, enthused space. The polished chrome surfaces gleam, the sun streams in and the whole place is alive making this a pleasurable venue to learn.

A pleasurable venue to learn!

Vessels hold whisks, ladles, measuring cups and spoons. Mortar and pestles grace the window ledges along with ripening tomatoes. Aprons hang at the ready waiting for us. The layout is well thought out with a two sided stove top where you will cook and awe over what is brewing, sending out those delicious aromas to your senses. A large washing up area, pots, pans and modern appliances are all the makings of an efficient space to learn the day's menu.

This space is versatile, efficient and the clever layout gives it the ability to transform and become a wine and beer tasting centre as well.

When you come here you not only get great value you learn how to cook and you make it from scratch. You get to enjoy all the scentsations that go along with it and you get to enjoy the meal when you are done. It's quite simply a fantastic way to spend some time and learn something new.
