Although this place was established a while ago, a lot of Adelaideans are unaware of its existence, so if you love all things German and anxiously wait 364 days for Schutzenfest so you can dance to an accordion, enjoy some Erdinger beer and wear your Lederhosen, you can stop the countdown now.
Walk through Flinders Street until you find either the German flag or number 223. Although the front looks slightly tired and even a little bit abandoned, you mustn't be deceived. Cross the glass doors and walk through the main hall, past the card players to find a truly warm, honest and über friendly space.
Choose a booth and get a drink from their extensive wine and beer list. If you can't make your mind up, ask one of their welcoming bar staff - they are always happy to help.
Hungry?
Get some Kransky or Bratwurst with creamy mash and sauerkraut, Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes) or try one of their German style cakes. They also offer kid's menu and vegetarian options. Their generous portions, flavoursome dishes and quick service will leave your heart beating an Oompah.
holds regular events and live music evenings. You can also become a member to receive discounts and accumulate reward points with food and drink purchases.
So now you know it! No more sleepless nights craving German beer or bratwurst! Head to the German Club tonight - but perhaps leave your lederhosen at home.
