The George Kerferd Hotel is a comfortable place to stay in the unique historic setting of Mayday Hills , a decommissioned 'Lunatic Asylum'. The 52 rooms are a good size and many have windows that overlook the extensive grounds and surrounding farmlands. The hotel is air conditioned and quiet with all the usual room amenities as well as free Wi-Fi. The staff are very friendly and the accommodation has a relaxed country house ambiance.



The Arbor Bar and Restaurant is onsite and serves as a place to dine or relax with coffee or something stronger. On Friday nights they provide live music entertainment. Continental breakfast is provided and can be enjoyed on the deck or inside. George Kerferd Hotel also provides a venue for conferences, functions and weddings and can cater for up to 300 people.



The hotel is on 27 hectares and leisure facilities include tennis courts an outdoor swimming pool and a sauna. There is complimentary bicycle hire and a few interesting walking tracks and for evening entertainment you can go on tours of the asylum , assuming you are game. The Spa Beechworth is located almost opposite George Kerferd Hotel if you feel like some pampering.


A place of peace and beauty has evolved from where there were once 67 buildings,1200 patients, 500 staff and 128 years of darkness.
