As the weather gets sunnier and warmer, thoughts turn to outdoorsy activities. Located about 1.5 hours south-east of Melbourne, the George Bass Coastal Walk is one of the nicest day walks I've been on and is still an easy day trip from Melbourne.
It's a 7km walk (14 km return) starting from either Punchbowl Road on the outskirts of San Remo or Shelley Beach car park in Kilcunda. The walk parallels the cliff line between San Remo and Kilcunda.
I decided to start in Kilcunda this time and have to say if you're short on time and can't do the whole walk, this is the part to do – rolling green hills on one side and the roaring surf crashing into towering cliffs on the other side.
Beautiful scenery along the George Bass Coastal Walk
Having down the San Remo side of the George Bass Coastal Walk on several occasions previously, I decided to cut the walk short and check out the Woolamai Hills which I've been meaning to explore for a while.
