One of the most popular silent films of all time is coming to the Grand Cygnet Cinema for one screening only on 21 August.
This iconic 1926 film was co-directed and stars Buster Keaton. It is based on a true event that happened during the American Civil war, though this is a comedy. This screening will have an organ accompanied for the sound.
Buster Keaton was a popular comedian who made many films throughout the 1920's up to the 1960's. His deadpan face was his trademark feature.
This event has been organised by the Australian Museum of Motion Picture and Television (
AMMPT ). The screening will show beforehand some shorts, to bring back the memory of genuine community picture shows.
Tickets are $10 each or $8 if you hold a Seniors Card. The doors open at 9.15am with the screening commencing at 10.00am.
Any profits from the screening will be used to further the association's objectives, which includes preserving the heritage of W.A.'s moving image industry.
The AMMPT normally screens a classic film monthly at the
Cygnet Cinema , which is itself a heritage listed building which opened in 1938. It was previously an independent theatre before joining the Grand group.
For other films to be screened for the rest of this year, see
