Gone are the days of skate parks with less than friendly bitumen paving and welcome to . Located just where it says it is, the Fremantle Esplanade, the Youth Plaza has been a hit for the small kids and the big kids of Perth.

Commonly referred to as the Fremantle Skate Park by locals, it has been 'wowed' by local and experienced skateboarders who have visited since it's opening in April 2014. Opening day saw a handful of local skaters such as Alex Campbell, Sean Parker, Harry Clark and Tristan Cook test out the course.

However, do not let these experienced skaters scare you and your family away. The Skate Park is designed to not only attract Perth's best skaters, it is designed to fit the Fremantle iconic community of family fun, social and friendly.

It has been incorporated into the existing landscape and features a centre buoy and stacked shipping containers that allow it to stay true to the Fremantle heritage. The park comprises segregated zones that allow children and more experienced skaters and bike riders to safely enjoy the park together. Although you may think that this would cause complete chaos, somehow it works.

not only brings to The City of Fremantle another family friendly aspect, it helps to promote a healthy lifestyle and social opportunities for the whole community.

Even if skateboarding is not your thing, grab a coffee from the nearby café strip and relax on one of many bench seats to enjoy one of the most entertaining things in life, people watching.

The Skate Park is free, always open and a short stroll from the Fremantle train station. On weekends the Skate Park is very busy, although this creates a vibrant atmosphere for which can be enjoyed by anyone, at any age.
