Our visit was at lunchtime on a Sunday after what Vicky, one of the owners, told us was a pretty hectic morning rush, and as such many of the signature delicacies had run out. Vicky made every effort to find something to delicious for us to eat nonetheless.
Special mention goes to the milkshakes and the homemade ice cream which we were told is made by the mum of Dave, the other café proprietor. If the moans and grunts weren't a giveaway, the cries of "This is AMAAAAZING" and "Oh My Gaaawd" coming from everyone at our table who had the Turkish delight ice cream revealed that it was hands down the best dish we tried.
While the food tasted great, The Fox & Rabbit Coffee Co.'s real strength lies in the décor, including a mural (still a work in progress at the time of our visit) of the scenery from Wes Anderson'sThe Fantastic Mr. Fox. Tables are made from recycled doors, crockery is vintage op shop finery, everywhere you look you'll find something cute over which you can 'ooh' and 'ahh'.
In a world full of cookie cutter cafés it can be fun and refreshing to find somewhere a little different. This is a haven for hipsters and those who want to be seen as hip. The menu alone is like reading the creative writing assignment of a manic pixie dream girl.
While this little Paddington café is truly adorable, I'd warn anyone who loves the slick efficiency and speedy service of larger chain cafés to choose another venue. This one's more suited to the laid back type who is happy to go with the flow and while away the time soaking in some 'twee'.
