The Foundry Murwillumbah is located in the rural town of Murwillumbah in the north area of New South Wales. Murwillumbah is an arty town in the lovely Tweed Shire with Art Deco buildings.

Driving from Tweed Heads, the Pacific Motorway and the Tweed Valley Way run almost parallel to the Tweed River. In the locality of Condong, there is a sugar mill with the same name processing the local sugar cane.

Located next door to The Foundry Murwillumbah is Austral Cafe and Bakery for all occasions. Austral Cafe offers a casual atmosphere, a large menu and lots of sitting places.



Austral Cafe offers breakfast, brunches, late lunches, snacks and coffee. The cafe has alternative milk, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

After the refreshments at Austral Cafe, you can take a stroll to the local Knox Park. Exit Austral Cafe and turn left into Murwillumbah Street. Then turn left into Brisbane Street and keep walking.

At halfway, in Brisbane Street, I noticed a big bear sculpture on the top of the roof of the building at the junction with Proudfoots Lane.





Knox Park is very central in Murwillumbah, 24 Brisbane St, Murwillumbah NSW 2484.

It is a very pretty park, with an awesome playground for children, a large grassed area and a pond with water fountains. There are a few facilities in the park like bubblers, barbeques, seated areas and toilets.



In the middle of the pond, there is a little island with a few trees colonised by a group of ibis. Despite being in full winter the ibises were looking after chicks and rearranging their nests. In particular, the nests were really big, to host at least three couples.






Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre

From Knox Park is five minutes drive, 3.2 km to the Tweed Regional Gallery.

There are many exhibitions in the Tweed Regional Gallery, in particular, there is a great collection of Margaret Olley paintings. Also, her house has been reconstructed inside the Art Gallery bringing in thousands and thousands of original items belonging to Margaret Olley of her original house.

After admiring and learning about the exhibitions in the art gallery and the fatigue setting in, it is time for some refreshments.

Bacaro Cafe is located in the same building as the art gallery and offers breakfasts and lunches, hot and cold drinks. There is a very attractive sitting area on the verandah with beautiful views of the green Tweed Valley with Mount Warning in the background.
