On a Wednesday night, at the valley's premiere live music venue the zoo , performances can be a bit of a mixed bag. The most recent Wednesday I went along, was filled with A-grade performances from acid-blues band Little Blue Dogs , some folk / pop from Hannah Karydas , and the folding kind .

A four-piece folk / pop band, the folding kind (their band name uber-cool in lower case letters) is made up of Trent on guitar, Sarah on keyboard, Louis on percussion, and Ellie on synth, with all members contributing vocals. I loved the keys in a cool piano look stand (second from left in the pic) and Louis performing percussion on a cajon .

I find it hard to describe the sound / genre of music. Oftentimes, it's because one song can be described as "x", then the next is "y". Describing the folding kind, I would have to say it's folky-comedic-quirky-pop sound; they reminded me a bit of Frente! , especially when they performed their original tune about not having togs, and having to visit a swimware shop, looking for something with a polka dot.

the folding kind played all originals except a very interesting interpretation of The Proclaimers Gonna Be (500 Miles) I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) , which demonstrated the amazing emotion that Sarah's vocals are capable of. Then they threw me a curve-ball, and slipped into an alt-country sound, not dissimilar to Mumford & Sons , demonstrating the diversity in their performance.
