The Fly by Night Musicians Club is a musicians club and music venue located in the heart of Fremantle. The not for profit community club was founded in 1986 by Musicians and Music lovers, the club is one of the few venues dedicated to music.

This club is located in a heritage listed building that is renowned for its acoustics and ambience. It has a solid reputation for high quality national and international acts.


attracts a mixture of performers who wish to showcase their talents, including musicians, actors and comedians with local, national and international artists performing at the club. The ambience is electric at night, giving it the atmosphere of a much larger club.

Some of WA's biggest bands including the John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Eskimo Joe, The Flairz, The Panics started their careers at the Fly By Night Club or as it has become known as The Fly. Popular acts like Augie March, Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins,The Whitlams and many more have played at the Fly.

There are heaps of acts coming up soon, including The Cat Empire, Herman's Hermits and The Big Hoo-Haa - a comedy improv team that is celebrating its ninth birthday at The Fly.

If you enjoy The Fly, then why not become a member? There are different levels of membership, for both single membership and for Band Memberships. The most basic membership for fans of the Fly gives you a free drink every time you go, first priority bookings, 10% off membership, plus more. This will set you back $60 for a year. Plus you get discounts at many stores in Fremantle when you show your card.
The Fly can hold about 500 people in the main room; a smaller space called The Transit Lounge holds about 100 people. The venue also houses a number of rehearsal rooms and has space for workshops, seminars and fundraising activities. Many events are standing room only but some events can be set up with seating, or a combination of tables and chairs and dance floor depending on the artist or promoter involved. Bookings are not essential.

Tickets for events are available on the website, from the box office or at the front door on the night. There is a huge car park just opposite the club, so parking is not a problem. The Fly By Night Club is a licensed club and a smoke free venue.

People under the age of 18 that want to attend a show must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
