Every second Tuesday Sally Warhaft - 'in-house news anchor' at the Wheeler Centre and multitasking anthropologist, author and broadcaster - interviews some fascinating subject or author on who- knows-what issue of the day as part of the Fifth Estate series. The session with Sarah Ferguson - of The Killing Season Uncut - back in April was a cracker and the latest, 'Real Recognition' with Marcia Langton and Megan Davis, co-authors of It's Our Country, was another sold-out success.

The Fifth Estate events are typically announced a fortnight prior to each event but will have a break for the duration of the Emerging Writers' Festival (June 14 to 24). Following the EWF and during the period of renovations at The Wheeler Centre there will bea number of events offsite.

Two events will be held at Melbourne City Conference Centre (12 July and 26 July), with details to be announced just over two weeks prior to each. Fifth Estate events will be held at the Bendigo Writers Festival (Powers That Be) and the Melbourne Writers Festival (details launched on 22 July). The normal fortnightly programming of Fifth Estates at The Wheeler Centre will resume from 6 September.

This fortnightly live series continues in August of politics, culture, international relations and beyond, in a witty and revealing analysis of current affairs. Topical guests are announced in the weeks prior to events: keep an eye on the Wheeler Centre website for updates.
