Unique Theatre experience Feast of Bacchus
If you are looking for something different to do over the weekend or on Valentine's Day, Hunted Interactive, proudly supported by the City of Perth, presents the Feast of Bacchus an interactive adventure filled with mystery and intrigue. Instead of being just a passive observer, you will have the chance to walk through a magical adventure and be transported to a world full of mythology, beauty and mystery as if you are enjoying the revels of the Feast of Bacchus itself.

Shows are on Friday the 10th of February, Saturday the 11th of February, Tuesday the 14th of February, Friday the 17th of February, Saturday the 18th of February or Sunday the 19th of February at 8pm. Tickets available here

Although the event is hosted by Hunted the Interactive Horror Experience, known for their previous mysterious and scary experiences such as Dark Lake, The Trail and Ward of Shadows, The Feast of Bacchus is not horror themed so this time faint-hearted audience members can participate. The only requirement is that you are mobile enough to walk around for an hour, don't mind being out in the outdoors, can follow instructions, are 13 years and older and that you arrive on time.

Libera - Tryphena Robinson

The Feast of Bacchus refers to the ancient Roman festivals of Bacchus (the Greco-Roman god of wine, freedom, intoxication and ecstasy) and is based on various elements of the Greek Dionysia.

Thesseus - Daniel Fletcher

In this experience, you will join the revelry of the ancient cult that worships Bacchus, learning their secrets in their music, movement and magic as they gather in a beautiful garden to summon Bacchus to celebrate with them.

Luna - Malia Bennett

There is also an opposing party this time in the form of the Outlanders, a rebel group fighting to disrupt the feast believing that power should rest in humanity, embracing the art of survival, self-reliance and swordplay.

This time, you are in the driver's seat. It is up to you which side you choose as a special guest in the heart of the feast set in the picturesque Victoria Gardens in East Perth. The actual secret meeting place will be sent to you once you have purchased the tickets don't miss the chance to be part of this immersive unique experience from an outstanding cast, award-winning writer and beautiful mythological imagery.

This was my first time at an interactive theatre experience so I wasn't sure what to expect. I am used to being a passive observer at shows but after attending the Feast at Bacchus, I finally understand what the attraction is of being part of an immersive experience. We are still treated to a wonderful theatrical performance but this time, we, as audience members, get to decide which sides to choose and our experience evolves, as a result of our personal decisions.

The acting was superb with great voice projection in an outdoor setting and it is obvious that the actors are passionate about their roles as they never broke character and were very convincing, engaging the audience members enough to follow their footsteps. Time passed by really quickly as we were immersed in this whole other world, forgetting our modern worries in Perth as an extra benefit, we did a lot of walking and I got some exercise in without realising it.

About Hunted Interactive:

Writer and Director Emma Humphreys had been expanding on theatre in non-traditional spaces for some time and in 2013, Hunted Interactive began with a midnight show at Belmont Forum Shopping Centre. It was incredibly popular and they have continued to expand from there, now playing regular shows in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, with their first International Tour to New Zealand coming up in March.

Prior to Hunted Interactive, Emma produced TAROT, a walk-around theatre experience in gardens across the city, with intricately body painted figures (it's seventh season coming up in Perth in just a few weeks on Friday the 24th of February and Saturday the 25th of February in Perth tickets also available now). The Feast of Bacchus has been in the works for a little over two years now - their main goal to present a truly unique entertainment experience. The idea came with the success of their interactive shows and Emma's success as a playwright. They wanted to utilise Emma's skill in literature and give our performers an avenue to demonstrate their talent in a non-horror setting.

Their performers are passionate about every performance and it shows when asked why they enjoy the shows and touring:

Ariadne - Elizabeth Willow

"Hunted Interactive offers theatre you absolutely can't get anywhere else. Whenever I step onto any of our many 'stages', I am confident that we are presenting truly unique and entertaining theatre. I feel truly honoured to perform not only in my city, but all over the country and I think it's just incredible that Hunted offers so many opportunities for actors to work, especially in such a tough industry." - Elizabeth Willow, Ariadne in The Feast of Bacchus (Perth)

"The work is always new, exciting and different from regular theatre. I love seeing the audience reactions up close where they don't have anywhere to run away to." - Jared Gerschwitz, Hunted Ensemble Adelaide

"As a performer, it is so rare to find regular acting work that you enjoy. It is even more rare to be part of a professional theatre company and rarer still to be given the opportunity to tour nationally and do something that you love. To be able to work with such an amazing cast on well written and directed productions is a chance that comes along once in a lifetime."- Rachael Knight, Semla in The Feast of Bacchus (Perth).
