The Explorers Club crashes into the Guild Theatre this June!

The Guild Theatre continues its stellar 2025 season with Nell Benjamin's award-winning and hilarious farce The Explorers Club. Don't miss this riotous night at the theatre. Tickets are now on sale.

The Explorers Club was Benjamin's first full-length play following the success of Legally Blonde: The Musical. It premiered Off-Broadway in 2013 and centers on a woman trying to gain entry to an elite club of explorers in 19th-century Britain.

The Explorers Club received the Outer Critics Circle Award for 'Outstanding Off-Broadway Play' and continues to be staged by theatre companies around the world.
London, 1879. The brandy is flowing, the facial hair is formidable, and the gentlemen of the Explorers Club are in deep distress. Why? Because a woman - yes, a woman - wishes to join their exclusive all-male society.

Never mind that she’s just discovered a legendary Lost City, or that she’s brought along a towering blue-painted native warrior named Luigi. There are rules, after all.

But decorum doesn’t stand a chance in this madcap Victorian farce, where airships malfunction, cobras slither freely, and diplomacy is derailed by an alarming number of miscommunications (and cocktails). As club members vanish, Irishmen riot over a theological mix-up, and the Queen’s secretary threatens war, The Explorers Club tumbles from scandal to slapstick with splendid absurdity. Directed with comic flair and presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC (Dramatists Play Service), The Explorers Club is sure to delight theatre lovers this winter.

Running from 2 June - 28 June 2025, this production continues The Guild's commitment to bringing audiences a diverse season of entertainment - this time with a side of science, scandal, and the world’s worst bartender!
