Want some action Saturday night?

Action movies have always had so much - well you know - action to them. You sit on the edge of your seat for most of the movie and this one is no different.

The Expendables 2 has taken a step back to the days when shoot 'em up style movies were popular, without the gratuitous gore.

With a cast of names a mile long including Sylvester Stallone - famous for Rambo and The Rocky movies, Jason Stathan - The Transporter, amongst others, Jet Li - martial arts extraordianaire, Dolph Lundgren - the man of many movies, Terry Crew - ex-NFL player, Liam Hemsworth - new heart throb from outside of Melbourne with The Hunger Games to his credit and Randy Couture - ex-weighlifter, also turned actor.

Then add in the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme and to round it out - Chuck Norris. All of these guys have been around since the 70's and 80's, giving us hundreds of movies to thrill over.

But then you get your token woman in the movie - Nan Yu, a newbie to the movies who can hold her own with all these males around. This being a new phenomenon for some of these guys who made their movies back when women were portrayed as screaming, runaway types who often fell down only to hurt themselves and be captured by the bad guys. We women are so glad they don't portray us that way any longer.

The plot doesn't differ too far from a lot of other action movies. The bad guy steals something and the good guys have to go out and retrieve it. A lot of fire power is exchanged because the bad guy isn't giving anything away without a good show of bullets and explosions.

There are a lot of lines in the show you may recognise from movies gone by but if you do remember those movies, you will love the lines. It is a tongue in cheek script for the guys from the older movies but I bet they had a lot of fun making it.

Want some action Saturday night? This movie certainly has it and the icons that go with it.

It was a great film good to see them all in the one money funny to see the joke about each other parts like who do you think you are Rambo or Arnie saying I'll be and Bruce Willis says no i'll be back. Looking forward to the next one
