A couple of years ago I wrote about and went to The Enchanted Forest event with its fairytale theme around a magical deer, and it was amazing. Since then, there’s been a space-themed walk and now I see there’s a new adventure with an ocean theme that looks to be equally enticing and worth another trip 2hrs south of Sydney.


Inspired by Shellharbour’s coastal activity, Tides of Treasure is an immersive nighttime experience with interactive zones, reimagined light displays, custom soundscapes and pulsating special effects providing mystery, music and magic.

Your goal on this journey is to find the lost key to unlock the treasure chest at the bottom of the ocean. Along the way, you’ll come across light projections influenced by mysteries of the deep blue, holograms of sea creatures, light-reactive spheres that react to touch, the glow of bioluminescence interacting with guests’ movements and more, with surprises around every corner in a dreamy mist-filled scenario that will have you feel like you’re floating with the ethereal and charming sea life residents as you follow the trail.


This all-ages event runs each night with a low-sensory session at 5.15pm and general sessions from 5.30pm. Ticket purchase is online only, through the event website . An adult (18yrs & over) ticket is $16.50, a child (3-17yrs) is $10.50, an infant (2yrs & under) is free and a family pass (2a + 2c or 1a +3c) is $43.50. Allow 45-75mins to enjoy the exhibits in this mystical show.

Located in Blackbutt Forest Reserve (off Shellharbour Rd, Shellharbour), the event also has food and beverages (plus merchandise) available to purchase, bathroom facilities, and is pram and wheelchair accessible. There’s general and accessible car parking areas, as well as a complimentary shuttle bus that will run on Friday and Saturday nights from The Shellharbour Club (more details can be found at the website’s FAQ section under the Parking tab).
