Have you ever ridden a Magic Carpet? Anyone with children under 8 will appreciate the wonder created in this corner of Queensland's State Library (SLQ). There is always some special theme around at the State Library of Queensland over the summer school holidays and the theme for 2012 - 2013 is Fairy tales, Myths and Legends.
As they arrive, The Enchanted Forest entices little ones to explore the mirror maze. Let their imaginations go wild as they get "lost" in the tangled woods and discover an enchanted castle, complete with myriad cushions, and mysterious windows entangled with vines. There are gorgeous hand made dolls with the names, Frog Princess, Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White. There are dress ups galore - even for the nasty wolf.
Fairy tales are brought to life every morning between 10 am and 12 noon with storytelling and art/craft activities - maybe you might like to make your very own castle to take home? Or a Red Riding Hood peg dolly perhaps?
Ride the Magic Carpet and enjoy a flying tea party or picnic - oh what lands you might discover. The Enchanted Corner space will keep little ones entertained for hours. It has been so thoughtfully co-ordinated and lovingly well kept, children just relish the chance to soak it all in. On that note, adults will surely get caught up in all the imaginative fun too. I dare you not to get on that magic carpet.
took my grand daughter here last week all excited after our princess day seeing the disney movie and it wasn't on, she was dissapointed, luckily GOMA had APT 7 on for her. I think you need to to take this off the websit or change the dates.
