The Adelaide Repertory Theatre (The Rep) kicks of its 2016 Season with its production of writer Bernard Pomerance's multi-award winning play .

Directed by Megan Dansie – is based on the real life of Joseph (John) Merrick (5 August 1862 – 11 April 1890) .


The cast consists of many of The Rep's regulars: Robert Bell, Steve Marvanek, Georgia Stockham, Jamie Wright, Jonathon Scholten, Nicole Rutty, Patrick Marlin, Philip Lineton, Sharon Malujlo, Thorin Cupit and Tony Busch.

chronicles Merrick's life as he struggles 'to belong'. Witness how Dr. Frederick Treves empowers Merrick into stepping away from the 'freak show' and into 'a normal life'.
