At the Earl of Leicester you can have three different dining experiences. From the crowded but lively Liar's Bar, to the classy Liar's Restaurant, and finally the laid back Bistro dining. Wherever you choose to eat you'll find a range of tasty options, but if you're after the Leicester's famous schnitzels then make sure you're heading to either the bar or the bistro.
A Large Kilrudd Schnitzel
For the best atmosphere at the Earl of Leicester then you'll have to make the bar your destination. It can be a pretty tight squeeze when business is booming, but if you can manage to find yourself a table then here is where you should sit. In the bar you'll be able to enjoy from a wide range of craft beers and brews. Take a look at their extensive beer list, with local and imported beers. If you make your way through it you might make your way onto their Beer Legends Board. You can enjoy a good range of tasty pub meals like burgers, seafood, and roasts. There are plenty more things to choose from, but a recommendation is to check out the schnitzels on offer.
The Tiger Woods
In the bar you'll find the humorously named schnitzels go down a treat with a cold glass of beer. Try the Kilrudd (Gillard Special) which has a tasty Kilpatrick topping, or The Warnie (Guaranteed Diuretic Free) with a topping of avocado and mozzarella. One that comes highly recommended is the Dr Murray's M.J Special (Guaranteed to Stop the Heart) which has a delicious mix of sweet chilli, bacon, cheese, and sour cream. You can choose from a regular or large schnitzel, while the regulars look small on your plate they are still pretty tough to get through, and the large is definitely not for the faint of heart. The Bistro features the same menu, but lacks the atmosphere and humour that you'll find in the bar.
Dr. Murray's M.J. Special
If you'd prefer the fine dining experience, then head to the Liar's Restaurant. Here you can enjoy classy mains like the Wastonia Organic Port Rib Eye with Caramelised Waldorf Salad and Cider Sauce, or Pan Roasted Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon with Taramasalata, Roasted Red Peppers, Eggplant, Fennel, Tomato, and Green Peppercorn Cream Sauce. There are also some indulgent desserts that would go down a treat.
The Earl of Leicester is a great bar to visit whether you're looking for a place to eat, or just somewhere to grab a drink. While their presentation leaves a little bit to be desired, there is no denying that their food is very tasty. With better food presentation the bar here would be hard to beat.
