The Dumb Waiter is a play by Harold Pinter. It is set in a dank and dark basement room, where Gus and Ben wait for their next hit job. They have been working together for a long time now and have their routine efficiently down to a fine art.
But for this job, something is different! They receive increasingly bizarre orders being sent down via the basement's dumbwaiter. So, soon the tension between the two men builds up and it becomes clear that things are not as they appear.
This play is considered one of Harold Pinter's most famous early works. It is both funny as well as a very suspenseful play that reveals Pinter's skill for making unique and engrossing theatre.
The play could be termed as tense and stressful. The Dumb Waiter continues to offer new perceptions of human nature and the way in which a person is cunning in society's darker impulses.
The play is limited to one week only, so get your tickets by clicking on this link.
Added to the fact of it being a worthwhile play is that it stars two of Australia's favourite actors! John Wood, who has appeared in numerous popular television shows, and the incredible Don Bridges. John Wood is probably best known for his role in Blue Heelers and Rafferty's Rules. Click here to read more about this popular actor.
Don Bridges has had an impressive career including performances in television shows, film and theatre. He has acted both in Australia and internationally for over forty years. Don is also a director, voice-over actor and teacher and has taught at The Victorian Arts Centre, Melbourne University, Victoria University, The Arts Academy Ballarat and The National Theatre.
