The multi-award winning children's book The Diary of a Wombat arrives on stage this August, performing to families at the Frankston Arts Centre.

The original story of The Diary of a Wombat, written by Jacqui French and illustrated by Bruce Whately, is a firm favourite on children's bookshelves. The original tale follows a lazy wombat who spends a lot of her time sleeping, but causes much mischief with a family of humans during waking hours.

The stage adaptation of The Diary of a Wombat is a tour produced by the highly regarded Sydney based professional theatre company Monkey Baa , who are synonymous with developing engaging theatre shows for young audiences.

Follow the mischievous endeavours of Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia. Bored with her usual daily routine, Mothball goes in search of food and shelter, but in the process, causes chaos in the lives of the humans around her.

Nothing is safe from Mothball, who takes a liking to just about any type of household item; doormats, bins and washing lines catch the brunt of her capers!

The furry bulldozer's tearaway adventures develop into curiosity and soon Mothball discovers that with a bit of persistence, humans are quite easily trained.

The Monkey Baa team brings The Diary of a Wombat to life using puppetry under the guise of Puppetry and Movement Director, Alice Osborne (War Horse). Couple that with the stage show's designer Imogen Ross (Hitler's Daughter) and music accompanied by accomplished composer/cellist, Oonagh Sherrard, and you've got a magical tale that is sure to delight to all ages 3 years plus.

The stage adaptation of The Diary of a Wombat will bowl into Frankston Arts Centre for just two shows on Tuesday 8 August at 11am and 6pm. Tickets start from $17.50 (Members), $20 full and $90 for a family of four. Book tickets here .
