David Lynch is at the top of many people's "favourite director" list. Lynch spent much of his childhood being moved around from school to school and state to state, as his father (who was a scientist) would be relocated for work.

He studied painting at a fine arts school and fathered a child not long after turning 21. These combined life experiences inspired Eraserhead which he spent five years working on - finally turning out a piece he was happy with.

Eraserhead was viewed to be too weird and outside the box to be released, until a believing distributor came along, securing a cult following for Lynch's work and enabling him to make his first mainstream feature with Mel Brooks.

Lynch went on to make Blue Velvet, the TV seriesTwin Peaks and the stunning Mulholland Drive, starring our very own Naomi Watts(the role that gave her, her big break).

David Lynch's talent does not conclude with film. He is a painter, a sculptor, a photographer, a musician - the list goes on.

If you are a Lynch fan, don't miss the retrospective being hosted by the Astor Theatre, which will run over three consecutive Sunday evenings from July 22nd 2012.

It's time to get your 'Lynchian' on. Check out more information at the Astor Theatre website.
