Out of the shadows, The Dark Knight Rises . Rumoured to be the last installment in the Batman series, this new movie comes after a four-year absence.

With Christopher Nolan back on board for this film, who you may remember from such movies as Inception (2010) and The Prestige (2006), the film also brings back old favourites, like Morgan Freeman (playing Lucius Fox), Michael Caine (playing Alfred Pennyworth); and others, such as Anne Hathaway (playing Catwoman).

The plot begins with a peaceful Gotham City, who hasn't seen The Dark Knight for eight long years. However, the peace is about to be disturbed, with the rise of Bane, a super-strong terrorist, with associate Catwoman. Gotham's finest are powerless to stop him, and the only thing, or person, who stands in Bane's way is Batman, who is forced to return as a wanted fugitive to stop Bane's evil reign and prevent the fall of Gotham.

The new flick is sticking to its original inspirations – Batman comic books. Scenes from the 1993 comic will be in, as well as inspirations from previous films and Christopher Nolan, and his brother Jonathon. This will also be the last film with Christian Bale as the lead. Bale mentioned in an interview that as this film will be his last as Batman, it will end in a positive note, and that "Batman is not a flawless individual, he is someone who is doing good, but is also on the verge of doing bad; he's desperately trying not to let go of his leash, and that's what I always return to."

As for Bane, the villain in this movie, is a fighter with an injury. In order to let out his pain, he inflicts it on his victims, with brutal force. As we have seen in previous movies, Batman meets his match, especially when the opponent is stronger than he; so it will be interesting to see what unfolds in this new installment. What most fans will be wondering: will Bane be reminiscent of the Joker, who appeared in the The Dark Knight (2008)? Tom Hardy, who plays Bane in the new movie, had this to say: "The Joker is a symbol of anarchy, whereas Bane is something we haven't dealt with in previous films. We wanted to do something very different in this film – he's a physical villain, but with a terrific brain."

So, calling all Batman fans, head to your nearest cinema for the new movie to complete the Batman trilogy - The Dark Knight Rises. Interestingly, this movie's release date comes one day before the 43rd anniversary of the Man on the Moon. Batman also returns to the spotlight, or should I say, moonlight, on the same day. Coincidence, or fate? In cinemas Thursday 19th July.
