The Cunderdin Pub
The food and service aren't anything special, but the design definitely deserves a second look. After Cunderdin
's old pub was destroyed by fire, the local community came together and decided to rebuild their pub based on the Ettamogah Pub
cartoons by Australian cartoonist Ken Maynard. These cartoons were featured in the Australasian Post magazine until its last edition and became the inspiration for a couple of pubs around Australia.
The Cunderdin Pub is one such pub. It has been designed with bright colours, sloping walls and a rooftop truck, similar to the architectural style of the cartoon pub. Its quirky design is one of the main attractions of the small country town and remains a novelty for tourists today. So, be sure to stop by next time you're in the vicinity. Fish and chips, chicken parmigiana, steaks and pizzas are some of the items you can expect on the menu.
The pub is located at 75 Main Street in Cunderdin, approximately 160 kilometres east of Perth. You won't miss it as you're driving along the Great Eastern Highway. For more information, do check out their website at www.cunderdinpub.com
