The historic Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale transforms into The Creative Lounge over each school holiday break. Each season brings old favourites as well as new hosts, who teach children and teens arts, crafts, drama, dancing, mechanics, and even circus and magic.

The Creative Lounge Kids Autumn program series includes:

Tech Camp: Warrior Challenge

Working in pairs, your kids will work on a LEGO mindstorm robot, to battle it out in the Arena. The knock-out event means only one winner will be crowned Bayside Robo Warrior

Creative Writing for Kids

Let your kid's imagination run wild in a fun morning of story telling. The session includes fun games and opportunities to hear other short stories for inspiration.

When: Wednesday 30 March, 10am - 12:30pm

Let's Make a Play (TEENS)

A two-day drama camp led by award winning playwright Kieran Carroll. Over two days, children and teens will together in a energetic exercise. Suitable for those with an interest in storytelling, writing and stage performance.

Australian School of Magic

Release your inner magicians in the Australian School of Magic workshop program. The magical morning is broken down as follows:

Stardust Fairies: The Hippety Hop Show (PRE-SCHOOLERS)

One for the little folk to enjoy, The Hippety Hop Show is an interactive 50 minute Easter Bunny Surprise show, with story play, dance and lots hopping!

Journalism for Kids

Introduce your child to journalism, in a fun workshop designed for primary school kids. Bring along an iPad or smart phone and make a mini documentary to take home.

Asking for Trouble: Run Away with the Circus

Circus performers Christy Flaws and Luke O'Connor teach their multi-talents to your primary school aged kids. Each 1.5 hour workshop is jam packed with creative games, physical warm up, object balance, hula hooping and acro-balance. No experience necessary, lots of fun guaranteed.

Artist for a Day

Artist Juliet Collins will guide your art loving kids on a creative working with a multitude of mediums. The theme "Sun, Sea, Sand" will see your children draw, design and create in both 2D and 3D.

FLIX FIX: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

All workshopped out? Well then it's time to sit back and enjoy a movie. This Autumn sees the screening of old favourite Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
