Mark it in your diaries. Saturday May 12th - the Corso Street Party is back for its second year.
The street party will accommodate a variety of food stalls, entertainment and arts and crafts and market-style stalls - perfect to pick up a mother's day gift for the following day. There are lots of things for the kids too including face painting, fire truck tours (a sure-fire winner in our household) and a huge jumping castle which will be stationed at one end of the street. The RACQ Insurance Nova Sandman will make an appearance to give out prizes and freebies and a live band will be playing in the street to create the ambience for the perfect day out.
An initiative from local business owners Ashlea and Wesley Kemp, see this annual street party promising to be even bigger and better this year. Ashlea Kemp from Unsurpassable Hair and Makeup alongside husband Wesley from Coffee on Corso have organised this event for a number of reasons.
Firstly, they wish to draw attention to Seven Hills and the vibrant community that exists within this inner east suburb. Ashlea feels Seven Hills is often a suburb overlooked and unknown but that it rightly deserves to be recognised amongst its neighbours such as Hawthorne, Norman Park or Camp Hill for its appeal and rich sense of community.
Ashlea and Wesley are equally passionate about the charity that the proceeds of the street party will be given to. This year Brisbane Youth Services will be the deserving recipients, helping homeless and at-risk youth in the inner city. This amazing charity supports disadvantaged youth in a variety of ways, be it medical attention, food, access to emergency housing, drug intervention or simply the chance to shower - anything required. Taking a holistic approach, the Brisbane Youth Services vision is "New Futures for Young People". All profits collected from the Corso Street Party by Ashlea and Wesley will be donated to this very worthy charity.
If you wish to participate by hosting a stall or participating at the Corso Street party, please contact Ashlea Kemp at Unsurpassable Hair and Makeup on (07) 3168 1034.
So please keep Saturday May 12th free and come down to the Corso in Seven Hills. Not only could you pick up something special for a Mother's Day present, win a raffle or just let the kids have some fun but you will also be supporting a great charity too.
