Landmark pub and Richmond institution The Corner has reopened its rooftop in time for summer, following extensive renovations.

The venue has been at its current site since the 19th century, and has been a popular live music venue since the 1940s. Since undergoing a redevelopment in the mid 1990s, The Corner has become renowned for hosting big-name local and international acts.



As well as the recent renovation, The Corner has another reason to celebrate - its current ownership has just clocked up 20 years. The owners see the redevelopment as an investment in the next 20 years of great hospitality and music for patrons. "It's really exciting to be celebrating our 20th year at The Corner with a major renovation of the rooftop designed by Therefore Studio. Live music is in our DNA. While The Corner will continue to host the best local and international touring acts in our band-room, we think The Corner rooftop will become known as a great food and bar destination in its own right," says co-owner Tim Northeast.

The Corner Rooftop space offers an indoor dining area, outdoor courtyard and private function spaces. The menu has also been revamped. Head Chef Shannon Rice has developed a menu of premium pub food, focusing on share dishes. Share options include whole smoked pork hock with apple and caraway slaw, pickles, mayo and mini milk buns ($45), or whole roasted eggplant with quark, lemon herb toasted almonds, house made flatbread and pomegranate molasses ($28).



But if you prefer the pub classics, The Corner menu has that covered too. There are for example the Corner Parma ($24), market fish and chips ($26) or a range of burgers ($22).

Lunch and dinner are available Tuesday to Sunday. The rooftop space is completely wheelchair accessible.
