Imagine it's a lovely day and you want the kids to burn off some energy at the park, a good park where they have a big flat swing, climbing frame with monkey bars, spinney things, a smaller climbing frame with slide for the younger children, a rocking horse etc. Then maybe have a game of cricket or footy on a big open grass area.

Then imagine walking 1 minute across the road and you put your toddler in a high chair. Their older sibling gets out a toy box and finds a couple of things for him to play with in the highchair, he chooses a magazine for you from the rack and then sits down to play a board game. You order their favourite croissant and a wonderful sweet treat and large latte for you plus one of their flagship milkshakes.

You watch some kangaroos hopping around and some ducks swimming on a lake, whilst you browse the magazine you found on the couch you are now lazing on. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the children are happy. A dog and his owner stops by for a drink each and they explain they have just had a lovely walk and they always stop here for a pit stop, it's so peaceful and relaxing.

[BREAK]

A friendly staff member brings your drinks and makes a fuss of the children. You start chatting and enjoy the conversation you have with the lady and find out that this is a family run business and she really cares about her patrons and loves what she does.

Your toasted croissants arrive after a short while. It is all freshly made and you know you will have to visit numerous times so you can sample all the yummy food on their menu. You have ordered a toasted cheese and ham croissant, toasted cheese, chicken and avocado croissant, a melt in your mouth vanilla slice and the chocolate milkshake. You know a $2.00 ice cream and $1.00 baby chino will keep them busy after their delicious croissant if they want something else.

YOU ARE NOT DREAMING! THIS IS A REAL PLACE!

Where and what is this wonderful place you ask? Well, it's called (or just The Deli as it's affectionately known as by locals). It opened in August 2015 and you will find it on the 10th hole on the Ellenbrook golf course at The Vines Resort & Country Club.

It is a wonderful little oasis in the middle of The Vines in The Swan Valley and well worth a visit if you are ever passing the area. They are there to service the golfers mid way round the course, locals who need a loaf of bread, mum's in need of some down time, a place where dad can take the kiddies and order a milkshake, walkers can sit and have a hot beverage and your dog is welcome too as they have a dog bowl and corkscrew dog stake so you can leave your dog tethered safely whilst you go inside and order your treat of the day. There is a toy box of bits and pieces, a high chair and a magazine rack, all for your use whilst at The Deli.

They have various seating arrangements and novel game tables where you can enjoy old fashioned board games like Snakes and Ladders whilst waiting for your order to be freshly made.

[BREAK]

The milkshakes (they start at $5.50) are a favourite of our family, they are made using top quality ice cream and they have all the flavours you could want. They come with sprinkles and cream on top!

There is an extensive coffee menu ranging from $3.50 for a regular Espresso to $5.50 for a large Affogato. They also have assorted varieties of iced and hot speciality teas. There is complimentary flavoured water too.

There is hot and cold food available and all sandwiches, gourmet roll and croissants (all $6.50) etc are freshly made to order. I can personally vouch for the butter chicken pie ($6.50) which is my favourite, but the other pies are equally as good. There is a wonderful selection of cakes and slices, ice creams, chocolate bars, chips, fresh fruit if you need a healthier option. There are very reasonably priced lolly bags and old style sweets to buy, in fact, nothing in The Deli will break the bank, everything is reasonably priced. The bread is fresh everyday and tastes wonderful. My children would rather buy bread from The Deli than the supermarket now.

The Deli stock some pantry items too and even nappies and baby wipes in case you don't fancy driving to the shops! Buy the daily newspaper from them and sit and drink your choice of beverage whilst watching the golfers and have a leisurely read of the paper. I should also mention that they are licensed at the weekends so you could enjoy an ice cold beer (they only sell cans as no glass is allowed on the golf course) whilst reading the daily newspaper. Could it get any better?

Yes, it can! The staff are so helpful, friendly and welcoming! There are toilets located on site which are always clean, always have soap, paper towels and toilet paper too.

This is just the best place to go and has made a massive difference to local residents of all ages and to the golfers who play at The Vines Resort & Country Club . It is heavenly: a place of relaxation, a view to die for, wonderful food and drinks, you can play a game, read a complimentary magazine, stop for a rest on your dog walk, watch the golfers or watch the kangaroos, take in the bird life that flock to the lake, there's a playground opposite, I could go on!

It's open all year Tuesday-Sunday 8am-4pm in the cooler months and 7 days a week mid Spring-mid Autumn when the weather warms up. In the summer they have the garden cooling misters and umbrellas to keep you cool. In the winter they have cafe blinds to keep the wind out and a patio heater and blankets to keep you roasty toasty warm.

Check it out, you will not be disappointed!
