The Comics Lounge on Errol Street in North Melbourne provides for buckets of laughter six days a week. Whether you wish to attend one of their shows on a Monday or Wednesday night or even during the weekend, you are in luck. The location is just perfect as The Comics Lounge is right on a tram line as well with ample parking nearby.

The ambience is welcoming and inviting the moment you walk in, with the most courteous staff you will ever come across at an entertainment venue. I attended a show last night, and arrived only moments before the show started and there were people lining up on the stairs in front of me, and only a moment later many people were lining up behind me which was a great sign that I would be in for a great night of laughs and entertainment. Despite the length of the line, all were served rather quickly and at our tables ready for showtime in literally no time at all.

Head upstairs to the main bar just near the lounge, and a homely feeling is enjoyed with quality sofas to sit on. Have a drink (or three) before heading inside to your table. At the bar, the service is also prompt and efficient. The beer, the wine as well as their lemon, lime and bitters was sweet and yet flavoursome and refreshing.

Despite being packed out, there was great positive energy from the audience, and the audience at The Comics Lounge consisted of a diverse range of age groups.

Monty Franklin (who has also worked alongside popular comedian Dave Thornton) was the assigned MC for the night I went along to, and also made way for a bucket of laughs; recalling what was recently said about sex advice in an issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and what the Life Education Van mascot, Harold the Giraffe, taught us about such issues in Primary School. The audience interaction was amazing, not just with the applause but also with the comebacks where Monty and the other comedians were quick to come back with an extremely funny remark almost leaving you in stitches.

My other favourite acts included Col Coleman, and this establishment did save the best for last with Jeff Green who is originally from the UK, however Melbourne is now his home. ( I believe he is a real asset to The Comics Lounge with a well rounded stand up comedy act),

Grab a group of friends and book a table for a great night out. Packages at The Comics Lounge include a variety of different options at excellent prices, with or without dinner, and the shows run for at least two hours plus.

The Comics Lounge is definitely a go to venue for a terrific night of comedy.
