Liberty, equality, fraternity, or toast
The Coffee Club is positioned inside The Village Shopping Centre, right next to the main entrance, with alfresco dining area located on the corner-edge of the main street.
My partner and I were running errands and were tempted by the menu displayed outside. My partner ordered the Classic Pancakes with a Long Black coffee and I ordered French Toast with a rasher of bacon.
A white-china plate with four slices of French toast, a rasher of bacon, a small metal jug of maple syrup, and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Next to the plate is a white-china mug and a white-china teapot of English Breakfast tea
Classic Pancakes = $13.95 A Long Black coffee (with a small jug of milk) = $3.90 French Toast with Bacon = $16.95 A pot of English Breakfast Tea = $4.10 Total = $44.75
The pancakes were acceptably fluffy, the mixed berries were a good addition, however, there was perhaps more dairy than I would have preferred. Either ice-cream or whipped-cream would have been fine, but both were a little too much.
The French Toast was excellently crispy, and the addition of maple syrup and ice cream provided a good balance. In retrospect, the addition of the bacon was probably a bit gratuitous, although the bacon provided a deliciously crunchy contrast.
The staff were friendly and attentive, however, The Coffee Club was also having a slow day at the time.
The Coffee Club had an interesting and wide range of hot beverages available, however, I imagine the mixture of indoor and outdoor dining options may be a hindrance during the summer and winter months.
