Patrick White, Australia's National treasure, is well-known for his sparse, austere and terse prose. Now one of his short stories has been adapted for the stage in a world first.

The Cockatoos has been described as 'a tale of exclusion and belonging' - a flock of wild cockatoos has descended on the neighbourhood. For some they bring life and renewal – but for others, death and destruction.



Adapted for the stage by award winning writer and director Andrew Hale (the boat goes over the mountain) the show is produced by the Happy Dagger Theatre and starring Perth actors Anna Brockway, Andrew Hale, Kingsley Judd, Janet Pettigrew, Nichola Renton and James Sollis.

The Cockatoos opens at The Blue Room Theatre on October 20th and runs until November 7th. Tickets cost $15 to $25 are available from The Blue Room Theatre, Perth Cultural Centre, Northbridge, by phoning 9227 7005 or on-line from The Blue Room website .
