As winter approaches and the air gets a little nippy, my thoughts turn to hot chocolate, knitting wool and warm pure wool jackets. I don't see the point in a traditional winter's jacket/coat if it's not wool. Nothing else is as warm.
Holding on to that thought as I shopped in Chadstone, I drove across to 595 Glenhuntly Rd, Elsternwick (cnr Kooyong Road)- (03) 9528 3395; where The Coat Man is. The last time I bought winter jackets a few years ago was from them, so I figured it was time for a revisit to Moshe and Norah's Factory Outlet.
The Coat Man has been around for 21 years and located at their new premises since last year. This factory outlet is jam packed with ladies and men's cashmere and wool coats, rainwear and leather apparel.
You'll get lost in a sea of winter warmth, and for every coat you buy for over $99, you get a free scarf. Alas, it's not pure wool, but there is a range of lovely colours to choose from.
Sizes at The Coat Man go up to size 26, which is just wonderful for the larger sized ladies who have a hard time finding these sizes in conventional shops. There's a lot of Australian made, soft, Italian cashmere and wool jackets as well, not to mention fashionable raincoats, leather jackets, puffer jackets and more.
I did note that they now have boiled wool jackets in stock, in a variety of sizes and colours. I have to admit I do love the felted boiled wool jackets and could not resist picking one up with a rounded collar.
If, like me, you're after a few bargains like the reduced clearance items, shopping personally is the best way. As you can see in my pics above, the specials range from $25 to oddments at $49 and 50% off coats at $99; and we're talking pure wool. I was happy as a pig in mud with my two $25 (each - see pic below) pure cashmere and wool Australian made coats from the sale section. The jacket in the picture on the right below is more reddish than brown in reality, to match the little red buttons.
For that lovely old fashioned service, huge variety and range with bargains to boot, you can't go wrong with The Coat Man.
