Known as the Entertainment Hub of the North, The Club has a Sports Bar fully equipped with TAB, Lotteries and Sky Channel, pokies machines, and a pool table. Its entertainment program includes bingo and Saturday dinner dances. The Club is situated on Shepherdson Road in Parafield Gardens and also has a bistro that serves a good variety of meals that can be expected to be served at a cafe. All meals at the bistro include unlimited access to the salad and vegetable bar where you can pick as much salad or vegetables as you want to accompany your meal.
The dishes that we ordered were beer battered perch with chips, beef fillet mignon and the roast of the day. The beer battered perch was fried golden brown and the crispy coating contrasted nicely with the perfectly cooked fish. It was accompanied with a serving of chips that was cooked just right, a fresh salad and ranch dressing to dip the fish and chips in.
The roast of the day served during our visit was pork with roast potatoes and gravy. While we were a bit disappointed it did not have any crackling, the pork was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were golden brown and fluffy. The gravy accompanying the pork helped to round out the flavour of the dish.
Beef fillet mignon consists of a fillet of beef wrapped with bacon that is then grilled. The beef was tender and had a delicious smoky taste from being grilled, the bacon helping to add an extra element of flavour. It was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a tasty mushroom sauce.
The dishes were quite affordable, with the beef fillet mignon only costing $19 whereas places that serve similar dishes price it is around $22. The set lunch meals sound even more attractive - priced at $9.90, it also includes unlimited access to the salad and vegetable bar. The bistro has a casual atmosphere and seems to be a popular family dining place. There were a few families with young children dining there during our visit.
