On the evening of 1 June, 2015, The Clothing Exchange will once again take over Deakin Edge at Federation Square, to prepare for the next big clothing swap session of the season, only this time, the event will be held to help raise funds for Nepalese families who are most effected by the country's two recent earthquakes.
The Clothing Exchange Swap For Nepal event happens to coincide with World Environment Day; quite fitting considering the purpose of its fundraising intentions. The event will feature a speaker from the Australian Himalayan Foundation; the organisation that will receive fundraising monies on the night, with an explanation as to the work they are doing on the ground and the support that is still needed.

The Clothing Exchange swaps work by simply taking along items you no longer wear, to exchange for pieces you will. You can swap up to 6 items of good quality pieces at one event.
On the night, you bring along your unwanted pieces to 'check-in' with, and The Clothing Exchange volunteers will screen your donated wears before you are given a button in exchange for each accepted piece. Once all check-ins are complete and garments are displayed, a brief introduction will be given before the swapping commences. Don't misplace your buttons; they will be your currency for the night. Once you are content with your swap, you will use your buttons to 'buy' your new-to-you wares.
For the ticket price of $25 for The Clothing Exchange - Swap For Nepal event this June, $10 of which will be donated to the Australian Himalayan Foundation. Book your ticket to this rather special swap here, and head down to Deakin Edge on Monday 1 June, 2015 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm to get your winter swap on.
