The Clothing Exchange is a brilliant and unique event, in which everyone is invited to swap their pre-loved clothing. Perhaps you could give new life to that overpriced dress you bought for a summer wedding two years ago and haven't worn since, or the designer jacket you purchased on eBay that you just had to have, but unfortunately was one size too small. Whatever the story behind the garment, you can swap it for something you will actually wear, provided it is clean or pressed and is as new, with all the buttons, embellishments and zips intact.

Clothing Exchange events occur year round and Australia wide (see upcoming events here ), however the upcoming Clothing Exchange event in Sydney, is a little bit special - it is focused entirely on vintage clothing. Entitled 'A Very Vintage Swap,' this Clothing Exchange event will be held at The Hotel Clarendon ( DEVONSHIRE STREET, SURRY HILLS, NSW 2101&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=156 Devonshire St, Surry Hills New South Wales 2010&gl=au&z=16 156 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills NSW ) on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011.

As with all Clothing Exchange events, there are a few rules one should be aware of before raiding their wardrobe for garments to swap; as mentioned the pre-owned garments must be clean or pressed, with no faults, and the material should be in very good condition. There are several items which cannot be traded for obvious reasons, such as underwear, swimwear and garments made of polar fleece.

In the case of the forthcoming 'A Very Vintage Swap,' the garments must have been made before 1990, which is pretty exciting; I can already imagine the explosion of colour, flares and shoulder pads.

All the garments will be screened at the door to make sure everything being traded is of new quality. Each person is allowed to bring along up to 6 vintage garments or accessories, and there is a one for one garment exchange policy. All styles and sizes are welcomed, provided they are made before 1990, and it does not matter what the brand/s of the garment/s are; they can be created by a high fashion label or a high street brand.

This very special event officially kicks off at 7.00pm, but the screening of garments will occur from 6.00pm, so try to arrive at the venue at 6.00pm to avoid delays.

This is a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. To pre-purchase your ticket, which is priced at $25, simply head to The Clothing Exchange website .
