Music lovers rejoice! The City of Stonnington's Classics are back. Come along and enjoy free performances from some of Australia's best loved singers that include Rob Mills (star of the recent Jesus Christ Superstar theatre production), Bobby Fox, Clare Bowditch, Dimity Shepherd and Shakira Tsindos, covering the genres of Opera, Broadway and Symphony. See here for the FAQs and here for the program.

First up we have Puccini's tragic love story kicking it off with Madama Butterfly at Victoria Gardens, High St, Prahran on Saturday 3 February at 7.30pm. An award winning Australian director (Cameron Menzies), a live eleven piece orchestra and beautiful Japanese influenced costumes; is going to make this a spectacular free event in the park.

Madama Butterfly tells the story of American US Marine Officer B.F. Pinkerton and Japanese Geisha Cio-Cio-San aka Madama Butterfly, who fall in love while he is stationed in Japan. When he returns to America, she waits loyally for his return. On his return he is accompanied by his American wife Kate, and thus the scene is set for the tragedy to play out.

Set your diary up with all three dates, as following Madama Butterfly is The Classics: Broadway at Ardrie Park on Sat 10 Feb, 7.30 pm, and The Classics: Symphony at Malvern Gardens on Sat 24 Feb at 7.30pm. This is an amazing opportunity to see some great production, performers and performances for free for the month of February 2018.

Who better to host and perform Broadway than stage and screen star Rob Mills. It'll feature the best contemporary music from the 21st century and features hit songs from Hamilton, The Producers, Wicked and Jersey boys to name a few. Bobby Fox; Lisa-Marie Parker; Simon Gleeson; Zahra Newman; and guest artist Imogen Spendlove will also perform on the night.

The last event, the Symphony will be conducted by Roy Theaker, who will be joined by special guest Clare Bowditch for a stunning, sunset-lit finale. Don't miss it!
