You don't have to be foreign to watch a foreign film
This Tuesday, July 2nd, The Scene Club invites you to the screening of The Class in Dubai's Knowledge Village Conference Centre. This is for students or individuals who are interested in foreign films and films that are not in mainstream culture. You can attend and in turn share your thoughts at the Q&A with one of the actors from the movie for an interactive experience.
The Class is a French film about a teacher who gains the respect of his students through his honesty. He is then faced with the task of maintaining this respect and challenging his usual methods with a diverse class of students who come from an underprivileged background.
The film was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign film.
Although the film is in French, there will be English subtitles.
Independent films can be enjoyable, well made and a refreshing simplistic presentation compared to the grandeur of mainstream cinematography. The Scene Club aims to draw attention and raise awareness to successful and independent foreign films, bringing together interested individuals to appreciate and create a discourse of the same.
The Scene Club organises a showcase of independent foreign films on a monthly basis with a complimentary Q&A.
The Scene Club began in 2007 as the country's first official film club and is sponsored by the Dubai International Film Festival.
