The Chornicles of Narnia Exhibition in Sydney

The Chronicles of Narnia was (and still is) a classic masterpiece from CS Lewis; a combination of seven different fantasty novels including The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. These are classics that you might have read in primary school, and chances are you might have as all of the CS Lewis novels are featured in the NSW Premier's recommended reading list for years five and six school students. Just like Dr Seuss, CS Lewis was close to the hearts of many primary school children in Sydney. Think Prince Caspian and this might ring a few bells for many of you. Or otherwise you might have seen the film based on the Chronicles of Narnia. No more evil is the aim of the game.

The world of Narnia is where animals can talk, and magic comes alive. Speaking of magic, there is a prominent museum in Pyrmont that is a great place for those who love science, magic and the arts: that's right the Powerhouse Museum. Your chance to see The Chronicles of Narnia live from the 12 May - 26 August 2012. A great chance to re-live your childhood - or rather bring your childhood literary fantasies to life at long last; and this exhibition is also a great exhibition for families and children alike. The science and wonder of Narnia through the magic wardrobe is coming alive. Wizards and wands, lions and wardrobes. Definitely a great way to escape reality for at least a couple of hours, and there are opportunities to do extraordinary things such as touching an icy waterfall and seeing the costumes from the movie series. There is a great opportunity to come face to face with the main characters from Narnia such as Reeplcheep.

This exhibition is also designed to be educational as well as entertaining. What can the icy waterfalls tell us about the way water freezes? Is there anything that Narnia can teach us about climate change? How does our existence impact the earth?

It is advisable to book ahead, and tickets can be purchased from Ticketek. The Chronicles of Narnia exhibition is literally hot off the heels from the Harry Potter exhibition. The Powerhouse Museum has done it again in the world of science fiction. The Australian exhibition is only on in Sydney. No photography is allowed, and you need to turn up at least 15-30 minutes before your designated time slot. There is no limit on how long you can stay at the exhibition. It is expected that people will stay for around 1-2 hours. This is really exciting for Sydney, and no doubt many Sydney siders are looking forward to seeing the Chronicles of Narnia live, and once again seeing out those science fiction fantasties.

Hi Sian, great question. I did not think about this when I was doing my research at the time. Call the Powerhouse Museum, they'll point you in the right direction. Usually at these types of events, merchandise is sometimes for sale. Good luck :)

Hi Justine - Taking my Narnia-mad daughter to this exhibition in August. Do you know if they sell Narnia merchandise as she is saving for a Susan bow and arrow set she's seen on Amazon but we'll get it at the exhib if they have them there.
