No matter the season, it's always playtime inside the Children's Museum of Manhattan. Designed for newborns to 8 year olds, the museum houses five floors of permanent and temporary exhibits that are fully interactive and imaginative. All year round, children can run with Dora the Explorer, build with Peter Rabbit and explore rope jungles teeming with monkeys.
For a special treat, sign-up your child for a summer class offered from June through August. These specially designed scientific programs are uniquely themed to entertain and educate. Drop your child off for hours of fun, snacks and field trips through the special exhibits.
For children aged 3-4 years old, the Eco Kids Club focuses on the natural wonders of the world. Interactive stories, art projects, and scientific experiments help children learn actively while observing specimens and learning through discovery. During the program, children will practice valuable classroom skills such as listening, making transitions, and teamwork.
Science Squad For children aged 4-5 years old, the Science Squad follows the steps of actual scientists and inventors. Children will learn how scientists explore the world and how inventors develop new innovations. All activities are hands-on as children examine living organisms, test models, and build prototypes. Throughout the program, children will enhance critical thinking skills in science, art, and literacy.
Even if you're only in the city for the day, the Children's Museum of Manhattan is a great place to visit! Watch your kids climb bridges with Dora the Explorer and Diego. Head up to the 3rd floor for the Playworks Rooms full of miniature houses, slides, grocery stores, and bridges. Walk-in workshops are held every half hour and cover a range of topics from biology to citizenship. Outside, kids can play in the City Splash, a water jungle that cools them off while teaching about the water cycle and environment.
