This is a place where fat dreams come true
Any shop that has the word "cheese" and "cake" in the title, is a shop I want to know about. Having been on a diet since I hit puberty and went into one of those change rooms with mirrors showing every angle of you, I had always avoided any route that meant passing The Cheesecake Shop.
When an opportunity finally presented itself, my boyfriend's parents renewing their wedding vows, I knew exactly what I was getting them as a present. It was only close family, so I didn't need to buy a huge cake, just one big enough to feed five people and still leaving half the cake for myself in times of desperate need, like 5 minutes after everyone else has left the room. Arriving at the store, my eyes and belly went into a cake coma, all the cakes looked sooo good. I was tempted to buy the whole cake cabinet. Like any person deprived of cake since 12 years old (okay maybe I had a few slices (whole cakes) between that time), my eyes were immediately drawn to the mudcake, with chocolate eclairs and flakes on the top of it.
After double checking with my boyfriend that his parents like mudcake (pfft, who doesn't) I was ready to order. I thought I might have to come back and pick it up, but the friendly staff had it ready for me in the box, within 2 minutes. Scanning over the other cakes, truly, they were all as beautiful looking as the mudcake and extremely well priced. An actual cheesecake only cost around $22 and my mudcake was only $35 (score). They even had mini cheesecakes, cupcakes and macaroons under $5, if you wanted a quick dessert or to give as a cute present.
Getting the cake home, it took all my will power to not eat it (we had it in our fridge for over 20 hours, I'm like the Commando from the Biggest Loser). When my boyfriend's parents opened the box and found the cake, their faces nearly exploded with joy. Eating it was even better. It would have to be the nicest dessert that I have ever had. Everyone was rapt with it too. I highly recommend going to The Cheesecake Shop for your next celebration. They also have lovely Wedding Cakes you can pre-order for a reasonable price. Let the inner fat kid in you, out for a day.
