Australia is a beautiful country with many places to explore in your own backyard.
A focus on the life and structure of the Cathedral
As part of South Australia's History Festival, you have the opportunity to learn about the changes that had influenced the life and structure of St Peter's Cathedral. You will be led by an experienced guide through the inside of the building and its surroundings. You will hear of the stories of the key people who are known as the "Changemakers".
Over the weekend, we joined the first of their guided tours available this month. The tour started with a walk around the grounds of the Cathedral, including its memorial garden, before heading inside the church to admire its various architectural design. There is also a chance to view the various exhibits either before or after the tour.
Our tour also included an organ recital at the end, beautifully played by the church organist. He played three musical pieces to showcase the magnificence of the organ which was restored a few years ago. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
The next guided tour with organ recital will be held on Saturdays, the 8th, 15th and 29th of May. If you are just after the guided tour alone, you are welcome to join the tour every Wednesday in May at 11am. On Ascension Day, 13th May, a special late afternoon tour is available followed by a choral Evensong by the Cathedral's choir. All tours are free with no bookings required. Further details including times are available on their website.
St Peter's Cathedral is located on King William Road in North Adelaide.
