I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny.
- Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat

This school holidays, Dr.Seuss's classic tale will come to life on the Playhouse Stage of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. This production, originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain, has been converted into a magical and witty play especially for children by the creators of the award winning production The War Horse.

[ADVERT]The play follows the original Dr. Seuss story line, with The Cat interrupting the boredom of a rainy afternoon with his special brand of zaniness. Filled with rhyme, balancing cups, and the outspoken and admonishing fish in the bowl, Sally and her brother find their afternoon transformed from a cozy scene into a land of chaos, aided by the Cat and the mischievous twins, Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Having recently played to sold out sessions in the Sydney Opera House, the Australian production with an all Australian cast will be in Brisbane in time for the September/October school holidays, running from the 1st to the 5th of October. The show runs for approximately forty minutes and is suitable for children aged three to seven. You can view a preview of the Sydney production here .

Tickets to the production cost $39.90 and it plays at 10am and 12pm every day, with an additional show at 2pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be booked by calling QTIX on 136 246, or by visiting the QPAC website .

For a fun introduction to live theatre with a child friendly story line, the Cat in the Hat production will be fun for audiences of all ages and an enjoyable addition to your school holiday activities. Follow it up with a swim at nearby Southbank Parklands or a trip to the Queensland Museum for a full day of fun. Avoid the parking costs by catching a train, bus or the City Cat to the Cultural Centre or South Bank stops.
